Our Founder: Your Favorite Trainer’s Favorite Trainer
Mubarrat Wassey has dedicated the better half of his life to debate and speech. His record-breaking stint as a competitive debater saw him crowned as Asian champion and best speaker three times, and become the first Asian speaker to emerge as champion of the Australasian and Cambridge Intervarsity debate championships, to name a few. He has also judged at the highest levels of competitive debating, most recently chairing the grand final of Panama WSDC and EFL grand final of Sofia WUDC.
His leadership extends to the global competitive debate circuit, having been the Deputy Chief Adjudicator at Korea Worlds University Debate Championship and the Deputy Chief Adjudicator of Serbia World Schools Debate Championship (WSDC). He has also taken up the role of Chief Adjudicator for Kenya WSDC and Tshwane WUDC, taking place in Nairobi this July and South Africa in 2028 respectively.
His days as a trainer began as early as 2012 and over the ensuing decade, he has coached across continents and helped many students achieve international success, as debaters, judges, and trainers themselves. Notably, he was the lead of the Team Qatar program, under the auspices of QatarDebate, when Qatar’s national team achieved her first (and second, third, and fourth) breaks, and ranked as the third best team at Serbia WSDC in 2024.
